Scope of Work

As a subcontractor to Griffith Company, Caliagua was responsible for the storm drain pump station at the cistern as part of the ADP Airside Improvements at San Diego International Airport. Our scope of work included:

• Furnishing and installing stormwater drain submersible pumps and stormwater reuse pumps.
• Installing 20-inch storm drain carbon steel and HDPE discharge piping, valves, and fittings, along with 4-inch and 6-inch reuse piping systems.
• Constructing a pump control building including slab-on-grade foundation, CMU walls, and structural steel framing, complete with doors, roofing, metal wall panels, HVAC, plumbing, and protective bollards.
• Installing cistern vent piping, aircraft-rated storm drain manholes, and miscellaneous metals such as roof hatches, floating oil boom supports, and overflow baffle/weir plates.
• Providing complete electrical and instrumentation systems for the pump control building, including controls and integration with airport systems.
• Performing startup, testing, and commissioning to ensure full operational readiness in compliance with airport authority requirements.

The storm drain pump station and cistern facilities are critical to the San Diego International Airport’s stormwater management strategy. By capturing, pumping, and reusing stormwater, the system reduces flood risks, enhances airfield safety during heavy rain events, and supports the airport’s sustainability goals.
