Crystal Cove State Park

Crystal Cove, California: Sewer Lift Station

Project Details

Prior to the project, the three lift stations relied on aging fiberglass wet wells, outdated pumps, limited telemetry, and electrical systems that no longer met current safety standards. The improvements replaced these with precast concrete sumps, modern duplex grinder pumps, upgraded electrical panels, and integrated alarm and telemetry systems—delivering more reliable operation, easier maintenance, and stronger protection of public health and the environment. Caliagua’s scope of work included:

  • Demolition and Site Preparation: Removal of existing lift stations, discharge piping, pumps, and related components; site clearing, excavation support, and cleaning of structures in preparation for new installations.
  • Structural and Civil Work: Excavation and backfill for precast concrete wet wells and manholes, construction of slabs and access hatches, site grading, and placement of imported fill materials.
  • Mechanical Systems: Installation of submersible pumps, guide rail systems, discharge piping, valves, and corrosion-resistant coatings integrated with existing force mains.
  • Electrical and Instrumentation: Construction of power distribution systems, new control panels, instrumentation, and backup power infrastructure for each station.
